In a production inspired by everything from the ancient world to Art Deco to 70’s rock and roll, we needed a single visual statement that could allow the play’s many, many scenes to move swiftly through it. The dominant central arch merges Egyptian pylon architecture and a rock lighting truss through a lens of Art Deco flame and water. The world is unstable, on the brink of collapse, but beautiful, gilded, and vividly alive.
