This play takes place in two Chicago apartments and also in flashbacks and fictions from an earlier era. To create the seamless transitions into that dream-reality, I designed the walls to be made of scenic gauze, which would feel solid in

the present, but could glow and become less present when reality became fuzzier. The two apartments shared an architectural style, but the first was cluttered, full, and homey, while the second was stark, closed-off, and sad.
This change was executed in an intermission shift by moving a few walls and changing the set dressing.
