In Proof, our young protagonist Catherine struggles to keep her grasp on her life as memory and fear blur the lines of her reality. To mirror this struggle, the physical objects of the world sometimes grow faint and ethereal as she passes into memory or fantasy, only to become crushingly real as the family’s struggles play out. The translucency is achieved by sheer fabrics hanging at the sides of the stage and by gauze applied over clear Vacuform to create the siding of the house.
