Scheherazade is a ballet of passion, sensuality, and violence set in a sultan’s harem in a fictitious Arabia. This version of it uses the large cutouts and fabric hangings to reshape the space as it moves between intimate moments and large group scenes. The fabric hangings are ultimately pulled down to strangle the courtesans and harem boys in the wake of their illicit orgy.
