Three Blessed Brothers is based on Lakota folk tales and told through storytelling, puppetry, and music. The show needed to be able to travel to a variety of spaces and so had to be flexible and establish its own reality wherever it was performing. I worked closely with puppet designer Allie

Herryman to create a world that could literally come to life as the brothers discover it and fall apart as they upset its natural order. The initial puppetry tricks were simple, using hand puppets that could come out from various props and setpieces. As the show progresses, the world
becomes stranger, culminating in the arrival of a giant thunderbird made from the sky, a wise old woman in the form of the moon, and a shadow play that brings a new order to the world.
